Tim Challies reviews Tim Keller’s lastest book, ‘The Prodigal God’ and notes that it is the second major popular book on the subject of the parable Jesus tells in Luke 15 to be released this year. Preached on around the country and at my local church last Sunday evening this parable continues to resonate and speak powerfully to this generation.
Bloggers have been busy at work too. Just to mention one, Glen wrote about this parable in his usual informative and incisive style. In July I wrote a 7 post series about Luke 15 starting with “Two kinds of rebels and one kind of Saviour” on why this parable is so prominently proclaimed and also on how to avoid preaching an ‘Islamic Christianity’ from this passage.
Update:
You might find this interesting. It’s been written as part of blog discussions following the release of Tim Keller’s “The Prodigal God” talking about “younger brother” self-righteousness:
“That’s right, I know I don’t have it all together and you think you do; I know I’m not good and you think you are. That makes me better than you.” See the irony?
In other words, they’re proud that they’re not self-righteous!
